Speaking about overcoming self-doubt, Krishna Das speaks about ways we can mindfully and constructively use our own will.

“From our point of view, we think we have the desire to find God and to liberate ourselves from suffering. That is a positive desire that creates no negativity. It does not limit us in any way. But that’s only our point of view as incarnate egos, as beings that are attached to the physical body and the emotions and the thoughts. We identify with those things, so we think we’re doing this. We think it’s ‘my’ desire. But, actually, it’s your soul which is pulling you into yourself.” – Krishna Das

In this episode, Krishna Das discusses :
  • The desires we identify with
  • Being inspired through Maharaj-ji’s picture
  • The story of seeing Maharaj-ji as a giant
  • Using our will in a constructive way
  • Looking within to see what’s holding us back
  • Repetition of the name to purify our thoughts
  • A mystical story about K.K Sah’s father and Maharaj-ji
  • Continuing to come back when you notice you are gone

“Look at yourself, and try to figure out why you can’t do what you want to do. What’s holding you back? You have to solve that problem, you have to deal with those issues. Maybe it’s self-loathing, maybe it’s self doubt, maybe it’s all kinds of things, programs that are running that we’re not aware of. That’s why the repetition of the name is such a good practice.“ – Krishna Das

About Krishna Das:

Layering traditional Hindu kirtan with instantly accessible melodies and modern instrumentation, Grammy nominee, Krishna Das has been called yoga’s “rock star.”  With a remarkably soulful voice that touches the deepest chord in even the most casual listener, Krishna Das – known to friends, family, and fans as simply KD – has taken the call-and-response chanting out of yoga centers and into concert halls, becoming a worldwide icon and the best-selling chant artist of all time. His album ‘Live Ananda’ (released January 2012) was nominated for a Grammy in the Best New Age album category.

KD spent the late ’60s traveling across the country as a student of Ram Dass, and in August 1970, he finally made the journey to India, which led him to Ram Dass’ own beloved guru, Neem Karoli Baba, known to most as Maharaj-ji.

Krishna Das now travels the world sharing his kirtan practice and wonderful stories of his life, of Maharaji-ji, of his life on the Path and discusses bringing chanting into our lives through retreats and workshops. To date, KD has released 15 well-received albums, most recently Trust in the Heart released in October 2017.
