Show Notes

You Already Have Everything You Need (Opening) – We all have at least one thing in life that we feel incomplete without. It may be a certain achievement or possession, but there is something that we believe we are missing that will make us feel happy and complete. Chris challenges this perception and shows us how to be the change that we want to see in the world.

“The problem with thinking, ‘Once we get X, then we will be happy,’ is twofold. First, it increases our attachment to that thing, whatever it is for us. The second thing it does is it increases our identification as someone who is not enough without, but that is not true. Happiness doesn’t come from success; it doesn’t come from getting what we think we want or from achieving a certain goal.

Success comes from happiness; happiness has to be the starting point. Redefining success, understanding what it means to be a global citizen, means starting from the place we wish to be. Meaning we have to become the person we wish to be before our world changes around us.” – Chris Bashinelli

Becoming a Global Citizen (5:30) – Chris talks about what it means to be a global citizen and shares what growing up in the melting pot of New York City taught him about connecting with others.

“A global citizen is someone who is completely present, someone who authentically connects with others, and someone who is inspired by a mission that is beyond themselves. We have to dissolve our walls and look for that one moment of connection when we are no longer thinking the other person is a human, but we have a feeling that the other person is a human being. Once that seed of compassion or empathy is awakened within us, then we are inspired to serve others.”  – Chris Bashinelli
