Brown Rice Hour with Konda Mason

Konda Mason Brown Rice Hour

Konda Mason quilts together a transformative discussion on the connections among land, race, money, culture, and spirit, inviting innovative thought leaders to guide our collective healing and liberation.

As a social entrepreneur, earth advocate, and social justice activist, Konda co-founded Impact Hub Oakland—a shared workspace that uplifts changemakers with a focus on social impact. Moreover, she serves as the Strategic Director of the Runway Project Oakland, a micro-lending fund aimed at bridging the “Friends & Family” financing gap often faced by African American entrepreneurs. In addition, she helped create the annual COCAP (Community Capital) conference in Oakland, centered on building the “We Economy.” Konda also co-founded Jubilee Partners, a project that unites wisdom keepers and wealth holders to reshape the meaning of money.

Introduced to Tibetan Buddhism in 1982, Konda developed a deep love for Vipassana in 1996 while working with Jack Kornfield at the Vallecitos Retreat Center. She has taught many retreats, including the annual Metta Retreat and numerous POC retreats at Spirit Rock. Notably, her extensive training spans the East Bay Meditation Center Commit to Dharma program and the Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leader program. Currently, she is part of the 2020 Spirit Rock Teacher Training program.

Konda’s influence extends beyond meditation centers: she has led daylongs, retreats, and workshops on spiritual practice and social transformation. She also serves on the Boards of Directors for Spirit Rock Meditation Center, On Being with Krista Tippett, Good Work Institute, and on the Advisory Board of the Namchak Foundation Learning Circles.

Alongside her ongoing spiritual journey, Konda remains committed to social entrepreneurship. In Jubilee Partners, she helps bring wealth holders and wisdom keepers together, reorienting financial perspectives toward equity and holistic well-being.
