Fate, True Happiness, & Finding TM

Welcoming legendary filmmaker and all-around renaissance man, David Lynch, to Mindrolling, Raghu opens by inviting him to share the early influences in his life which brought him to create such incredible pieces of art amidst finding true happiness and peace in the form of Transcendental Meditation. From here, they talk about David’s big break with Mel Brook’s Elephant Man, and reflect on the 1960s cultural context of TM.

“There’s got to be a point in all of our lives when something happens and we become a seeker. Something happened to me just about the time I moved to Los Angeles—I couldn’t get enough knowledge of all different kinds of philosophies, spiritual things, meditations.” – David Lynch

Transcendental Meditation & The Unified Field (20:00)

Hearing a profound change in his sister’s voice and way of being, David became curious about the practice of TM and it’s compounding benefits. Through this lens, he and Raghu dive into why the ancient technique of TM—first brought to the West by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi—proves such an all-encompassing method for transcending the thinking mind and coming into contact with the eternal unified field of unbounded happiness, love, creativity, energy, and peace.

“A human being is like a lightbulb—we radiate out what’s inside. So if you’re filled with anger, stress, and hate, you’ll radiate that out. People don’t like to sit down next to somebody who’s filled with anger and negativity. On the other hand, if you’re filled with happiness and love, you radiate that out; people like that and they feel good around you. It’s just the way it is” – David Lynch
